New Orleans can be seen as a modern, sharecropping society where the crops are prison or tourism. Our education system is set up to streamline black kids and a sprinkling of pour white kids into the service industry or prison. Freedom looks like education for the whole population of tot to elder and a switch from broken window/transplant savior modes of educating to transformative justice models.
